Pay Grade:3 $12.51/$15.11/$17.71
Primary Purpose:
Perform oil and filter changes, chassis lubrication, and tire changing and related tire repairs of Transportation Department and other select district vehicles while prioritizing safety, efficiency, and favorable appearance.

Qualification Guidelines:
Education/Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Successfully complete twenty (20) hour Texas DPS School Bus Driver Certification Course within first six months of employment
Attend
and successfully
complete
triennial eight (8) hour refresher Texas DPS School Bus Driver Certification Course
Acceptable report from criminal history inquiry
Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License Class B with P and S endorsements or training will be provided
Acceptable driving record as obtained from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Must pass pre-employment drug test
Must pass pre-employment annual State DOT
required
physical examination
Must pass annual FMCSA DOT
required
drug and alcohol test
Official citizenship documentation
Experience:
Background experience in care and management of property and the provision of equipment and services.
Minimum of three years experience in the repair of tires
Minimum of three years experience in oil changes and chassis lubrication
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to read, understand and communicate in English.
Ability to complete required bus driver safety training.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Be knowledgeable and current with all pertinent local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines
regarding
facilities and environmental compliance issues
Be trained in tasks related to the fueling of all facility vehicles
Clear understanding of the high priority placed on safety
Ability to work cooperatively with people
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Equipment Used:
Electronic time clock
Operates hand tools and stationary power tools related to the repair and maintenance of light to medium duty trucks and equipment
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:
Lifting:
Heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, climbing bus steps repeatedly within a duty cycle
Environment:
Work outside and inside, around vehicles and frequent exposure diesel and gas fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for oil changes, chassis lubrication and tire changing and repairs on all school buses, Transportation Department service vehicles, select other district vehicles.
