National Winter Actvity Center WINTER: Kitchen Prep and Service in Vernon, New Jersey

Position Purpose:

To assist in the daily operations of the kitchen while preparing quality, healthy meals for participants while keeping a clean workspace following proper health standards.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older

  • Ability to work varied shift hours, including nights and weekends

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with basic kitchen safety

  • Must be punctual, reliable, and able to follow instructions

  • Be able to work as part of a team

    Responsibilities:

  • Properly follow recipes for healthy meals

  • Refill salad and fruit stations, soups, and chili crocks

  • Process fruit and vegetables for salads and recipes

  • Serve portion-controlled meals

  • Keep a clean workspace following proper health standards

  • Interact with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous manner

  • Operate kitchen equipment including flat top, grills, ovens, and meat slicer safely and efficiently

    Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to lift and move objects of up to 25 lbs. as required

    Some physical requirements of this position include standing, running, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and demonstrate sports activities. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/program. Willingness to work in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering program in the facility available.
