Job Description

Position Summary

Inspects and evaluates components to determine if they are compliant to all HydraForce specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following reflects essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. It is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as the company may deem necessary.

  • Inspect components to determine if they are compliant to specifications

  • Document inspection results as required

  • Submit Non-Conformance reports for goods failing inspection

  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders and engineering specifications

  • Calibrate and perform additional studies on gauges daily

  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying these problems

  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products

  • Record inspection data using established programs and software

  • Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations

  • Inspects wiring of assemblies for accuracy of stripping, soldering, and crimping, and for defects, such as frayed wires, loose connections, and cracks

  • Verifies wire and cable length, dimensions, and clearance of parts, using precision instruments

  • Tests continuity and performance of parts, assemblies, and accessories, using test equipment

  • Support Quality Engineers with identifying non-conforming conditions that present existing or impending defective conditions at the system or subsystem level of assembly

  • Support other inspection departments when needed

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

  • Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time

  • Lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds without assistance

  • Working with small parts

  • Repetitive hand/arm use

Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Some of the work time is spent in a warehouse environment where temperatures are often warm or cool, depending upon the season, and noise level can be moderate to high

Qualifications

Knowledge/ Experience

  • A high school graduate or GED

  • 5+ years’ experience in mechanical inspection and manufacturing environment

  • Ability to follow inspection processes and plan

  • Experience with quality control equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, surface, comparator, roughness gauges, etc.

  • Experience with advanced quality control equipment such as: Hommel, Keyence, Spring tester, Hardness tester preferred

  • Experience using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Optical comparator or other complex inspection systems

  • Proficient with MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Experience with GD&T technical specifications, Work Instructions and drawings

  • The ability to see details at close range

  • Train level I and II quality control inspectors and other new hires for different quality departments

  • Work independently with little supervision

  • Exhibit ethical independence and judgment of the parts and process

  • Clear communication/effective interaction with other departments/suppliers

  • Visually inspects products using a scope or other tools using lot sampling methods, first article checks, or (occasionally) 100% inspection
