Job Description

Position Summary:

The Design Engineer III will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering Department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons

  • Fully manage design projects, following through from inception to production launch

  • Interpret technical requirements into design inputs / specifications, generate engineering documentation, plan and manage design validation testing of prototypes, and support customer field evaluation

  • Apply advanced analysis methods including 3D modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Dynamic System Modelling (DSM) to augment product development efficiency and effectiveness

  • Collaborate and support Supplier Development Engineering with suppliers to resolve issues in specification, quality, and delivery, escalating issues as needed to keep projects on track

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods

  • Create professional and technical reports after analyzing and interpreting data from various test sources to provide clear conclusions about the results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or 10 years' experience in lieu

  • 7-10 years’ relevant work experience.

  • 2D CAD and 3D modelling proficiency using PTC Creo

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Firm understanding of drafting practices; working knowledge of geometric tolerance and dimensioning practices

  • Ability to lead a design review and to interact with individuals and departments throughout the organization on a regular basis

  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
