St. Lawrence County Headstart Home Based Visitors in Various, New York

Home Based Visitors (4)<BR> <BR> POSITION SUMMARY:<BR> The individual must have knowledge of child development and early childhood education, including principles of child health, safety, and nutrition, as well as interest in and the ability to work well with preschool children. It is essential that the individual work well in partnership with parents and families who are served by our Head Start program through home visitation. The person must be able to identify and relate to problems specific to the population that is served by Head Start and have knowledge of resources available in the community/county that families may access. Additionally, the individual must have the ability to communicate and function effectively with peer staff, supervisors, parents, para-professionals, and community groups, using the phone as well as face-to-face and group situations. This individual must be task oriented and be able to work primarily alone for delivery of Home Based services during daytime or evening as necessary. The person should have strong time management skills as well as the ability to work independently to complete paperwork and detailed documentation at the office space provided by this agency. Individuals must have computer skills to complete required reports and to effectively complete virtual meetings when necessary<BR> <BR> QUALIFICATIONS: <BR> The person must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid drivers license. The person must have a Home Based C.D.A. (Child Development Associate). Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field, or be willing to pursue a Home Based C.D.A. or Degree in Early Childhood. Experience with preschool children preferred. The person should be fluent in English. Clearance from New York State Central Registry of Child Abuse and Maltreatment and New York State Criminal Background check is required as well as a pre-employment physical and Tuberculin screening and every two years thereafter. The person must have a clean drivers license and demonstrate safe driving practices. The individual should be able to lift and move heavy and or bulky objects and children in excess of 50 pounds. The person should be able to sit in a childsized chair, squat, jump, and sit on the floor as well as be able to perform occasional cleaning of the classroom.
