SAIC VMware Platform Engineer SME in Vandenberg Air Force Base, California
Description
SAIC is seeking a VMware Platform Engineer SME in support of Operational C2 Acquisition Delta priorities to deliver integrated Ops Space C2 capabilities. You will play a crucial role in providing recommendations to deliver integrated Ops Space Command and Control (C2) capabilities.
This team is responsible for the software lifecycle, and deployment of USSF Cloud Initiatives, designed to streamline performance, reduce administrative overhead and workload, and deliver a seamless user experience with our customers. We are looking for talent in Vandenberg, California.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide virtualization technical expertise to the program Infrastructure and Platform Teams.
Support the transition from existing on premises hardware and cloud solutions to modernized hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Implement virtualization and hybrid cloud technical solutions given an architect’s vision, while enabling all other components to provide a holistic capability.
Provide technical support and document VMware processes.
Provide support to system administrators in order to resolve VDI issues and issues with Virtual servers including when required providing support in response to outages including conducting root cause analysis.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and nine (9)+ years or more of related experience in systems integration and automation within a DevOps culture; Master's degree and three (3) years or more experience in systems integration and automation within a DevOps culture.
This role requires a current TS/SCI security clearance; must be a current U.S. Citizen.
Expertise in testing, integrating, and supporting secure virtual hosting environments, including hosting environment hardware, back-end storage solutions, virtualization management and virtual networking.
Have solid working knowledge of DoD Virtual Hosting requirements, vendor recommended best practices, and engineering solutions to tailor to DOD requirements.
Understand how to design, develop, install, implement, and troubleshoot custom VMware solutions.
Extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESXi and related technologies.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in the transition to hybrid cloud solutions (e.g. Azure, AWS).
VMware certification VCP/VCAP and/or VDI Certification.
Extensive knowledge and experience with VMware virtual environment and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Strong experience with Microsoft SQL.
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
