SAIC Senior IT Systems Engineer in Vandenberg Air Force Base, California

Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer in support of Operational C2 Acquisition Delta priorities to deliver integrated Ops Space C2 capabilities. You will play a crucial role in providing recommendations to deliver integrated Ops Space Command and Control (C2) capabilities.

This team is responsible for the software lifecycle, and deployment of USSF Cloud Initiatives, designed to streamline performance, reduce administrative overhead and workload, and deliver a seamless user experience with our customers. We are looking for talent in Vandenberg, California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to the program Infrastructure and Platform Teams.

  • Support the transition from existing on premises hardware and cloud solutions to modernized hybrid cloud infrastructure.

  • Implement virtualization and hybrid cloud technical solutions given an architect’s vision, while enabling all other components to provide a holistic capability.

  • Provide technical support and document DevSecOps Processes.

  • Maintain and update environmental documentation, Standard Operating Procedures, and engineering documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and five (5)+ years or more of related experience in systems integration and automation within a DevOps culture.

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance; must be a current U.S. Citizen.

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., C++, Python, Java, Go) and strong familiarity with modern development frameworks and tools.

  • Expertise in integrating software with hardware systems, network infrastructure, and cloud-based solutions.

  • Extensive experience in cloud-native platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, architectures, microservices, and distributed system design as well as familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Knowledge of cloud security frameworks (e.g., Zero Trust Architecture).

  • Proficiency with VMWare, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms.

  • Strong experience with Linux and Windows server environments.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with DevOps practices, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and the ability to drive high-quality, iterative development.

  • Knowledge of network protocols, real-time systems, and experience with embedded systems is a plus.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
