Lockheed Martin Painter - Maintenance in Vandenberg Air Force Base, California

Description: OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

This occupation requires hand and spray painting of factory and office buildings, areas,

equipment rolling stock and furniture; includes painting work on both new and old

construction and equipment.

WORK PERFORMED

Determine sequence of paint operations and methods to be used including need or

advisability for scaffolding and rigging, color blending and matching required, time

allowance between coats, order of application and number required, type and amount of

materials needed, and areas to be painted according to specifications, blueprints and

sketches, instructions, and trade practice.

Set up for job by mixing, blending and matching paint to proper color and consistency.

When necessary, direct the erection of scaffolding and rigging.

Perform such typical operations as applying decorative and/or protective finish coats to

such items as office furniture, office interiors and powered rolling stock. Rub down and

mirror finish office furniture. Apply trim to office interiors using a trim brush. Does trim

striping, dado work, and stippling. Perform taping, topping and finishing of drywall.

May do painting, including both prime and finish coats on exteriors and interiors which

require working from scaffolding and swing stages at various heights.

Maintain Air Pollution Control District (APCD) logs as required.

Basic Qualifications:

• To use spray guns and accessory equipment.

• To do all kinds of finish painting.

• To apply paint shop theory, practice and procedure including mixing, blending and matching of paints, decorative and protective functions of paint and other applied materials, and maintenance and new construction painting.

• Basic knowledge of and ability to use computer systems.

• To obtain information from blueprints.

• To use arithmetic including decimals and fractions.

TYPICAL MATERIALS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Materials worked on: Factory and office buildings and areas; rolling stock; office furniture.

Materials worked with: Various types of paints, shellacs, lacquers, epoxy, stains, varnishes; whiting, coloring materials; linseed and other oils; thinners; putty; fire retardant liquids; sandpapers, paint removers; rags and canvas covering.

Tools used: Brushes, putty knives, scrapers, chalk lines, shears and hand tools.

Equipment used: Scaffolding, swing stages, ladders, line striping machines; pressure pots, spray guns and accessory equipment; safety belts.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week

The base range for this position in California is $26.10 - $44.99.
