Description
SAIC is seeking a Principal IT Systems Engineer Database Administrator in support of Operational C2 Acquisition Delta priorities to deliver integrated Ops Space C2 capabilities. You will play a crucial role in providing recommendations to deliver integrated Ops Space Command and Control (C2) capabilities.
This team is responsible for the software lifecycle, and deployment of USSF Cloud Initiatives, designed to streamline performance, reduce administrative overhead and workload, and deliver a seamless user experience with our customers. We are looking for talent in Vandenberg, California.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the installation, configuration, upgrade, and migration of database instances, both on-premises and in the cloud.
Administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database environment.
Conduct thorough performance tuning of database systems to ensure optimal performance in an environment that includes high volume data ingestion, query processing, and transaction management.
Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
Manage, monitor, and maintain data replication, backup, and recovery processes.
Provide database support for software development and deployment, including the integration of databases with data visualization and language translation tools.
Implement and maintain database security controls and conduct vulnerability assessments to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and nine (9)+ years or more of related experience.
Active TS/SCI clearance; must be a current U.S. Citizen.
Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably within an environment that includes analytics and software development support.
Strong knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices, including relational and non-relational databases.
Hands-on experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other equivalent as well as cloud-based database management (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, etc.).
Familiarity with ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with DevOps practices, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and the ability to drive high-quality, iterative development.
Knowledge of network protocols, real-time systems, and experience with embedded systems is a plus.
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
