GE Aerospace Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Test Equipment in Vandalia, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Lead Test Engineer will be responsible for aerospace electrical power generation systems test life-cycle from system test requirements, development, design, troubleshooting, verification, and validation. This role is located onsite in Vandalia, OH.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for day-to-day support of final test operations including troubleshooting and repair of complex test systems

  • Responsible for design and construction of test facilities, instrumentation systems and the development of test software

  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a power generation and conversion systems

  • Will be responsible for managing small projects related to cost out and continuous improvement

  • Proactively look for areas of improvement within the department.

  • In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area

  • Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems

  • Work cross functionally within a matrixed organization to solve problems outside your area of expertise.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering

  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics :

  • Strong troubleshooting background to the component level

  • Lean Manufacturing experience & desire to expand Lean mindset within the organization

  • Experience with 480V electrical systems

  • Familiarity with power electronics, electric motors, and electric power conversion concepts

  • Experience with high speed / high power motor and gearbox systems

  • Experience in installing/modify PLC’s and PLC logic.

  • Prior work experience in aerospace power generation / conversion products

  • Experience with AC and DC motors and their drives

  • Prior project management experience

  • Technical writing skills
