PBS Engineering and Environmental Traffic Engineer in Vancouver, Washington

We are currently seeking to add a Traffic Engineer to our dynamic team in Vancouver, Washington.  

$80,000-110,000/annually, full time with benefits.  

PBS is a full-service engineering firm that provides cross discipline learning experiences for our junior engineers work directly with our broad service line including water resources, roadway design, civil site design, environmental, structural design, landscape architecture, geotechnical engineering, and survey.

*Required Qualifications *  

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering  
  • 3+ years' experience in general Civil, Traffic, or Transportation Engineering   
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) certificate, or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment    
  • Experience working within a team setting  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Problem-solving skills 
  • Authorized to work in the United States  
  • Valid driver's license   

*Desirable Qualifications   *

  • Professional Engineer (P.E) License
  • Familiarity with related codes and standards of such organizations as AASHTO, FHWA, ODOT, and WSDOT 
  • Familiarity with local agency standards within Oregon and Washington 
  • Experience with HCS, Synchro, SimTraffic, Vistro, VISSIM, VISUM, EMME, TransCAD, or similar traffic modeling and analysis software 
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microstation, or similar drafting software 
  • Experience with GIS platforms or mapping software 
  • Experience with technical writing (a sample may be requested) 
  • Proficiency with preparing and modifying spreadsheet calculations   

*PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES   *

  • Perform traffic engineering analysis and safety evaluations at intersections and along roadways 
  • Prepare trip generation and trip distribution calculations 
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation  
  • Perform traffic engineering design tasks such as signing and striping, traffic signal, and illumination 
  • Effectively self-manage multiple assignments and prioritize with input from project managers
  • Maintain active communication with team members 
  • Collaborate in a fast-paced environment  
  • Exercise flexibility and creativity in project approaches  
  • Periodically perform a variety of skilled professional tasks, manually or by use of computer-assisted equipment
