PeaceHealth is seeking a RN Clinical Documentation Specialist for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $51.73 – $76.98. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This remote role requires the incumbent to reside in OR, WA, AK or TX.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Ensures that physician documentation of the patient's diagnosis and treatment is consistent with the Medicare Diagnostic Related Group. Reviews numerous facets of the chart to determine if documentation present reflects the complexity of the patient and his/her resource consumption for the hospital stay.

Essential Functions

  • Screens and investigates patient information.

  • Actively interacting with physicians to support and clarify documentation, providing information from docu prompters and coding clinics. Being available for 1:1 communication with providers about their documentation and diagnosis is critical to the position.

  • Developing an ongoing knowledge base of the CDMP process and keeping current with changes.

  • Participating in continued education as needed to deepen understanding of Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs).

  • Being a full partner with other members of Clinical Decision Support (CDS) team in solving problems as they arise

  • Collaborating with coding professionals when questions arise.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Accredited School of Nursing.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience in an acute care setting.

Credentials

  • Registered Nurse in state of practice.

  • Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse preferred.

  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist preferred.

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment.

  • Basic computer skills including MS Office applications.

  • Effective prioritization skills.

Working Conditions

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Sedentary work.

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.

  • Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
