Location: Vancouver, WA Type: Contract Job #7698 Overview: ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Mechanical Engineer position will serve as a mechanical engineer in the field of design of overhead conductor, fiber optic cable, ground wire, and associated hardware and will provide technical support to design, maintenance, construction, and operation personnel in the area of transmission line engineering. This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA. Produce and review engineering design drawings, schematics, specifications, and sag instructions/stringing charts, resolve discrepancies, and update documents as necessary. Provide technical assistance to the line rating engineers in modeling existing conductor and propose solutions to confirmed clearance issues. Provide assistance to Quality Assurance/Quality Control staff for transmission line materials. Provide engineering support during construction of new transmission lines or upgrades and maintenance of existing transmission lines. Provide support in development of standards and material specifications applicable to transmission line design, operation, and maintenance. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited college/university in mechanical engineering is required. 6 months of mechanical engineering experience in design or analysis is required. College, charitable engineering projects, or voluntary engineering projects may be claimed as part of the 6 months of engineering design or analysis experience. Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, stress analysis, and AC/DC electrical circuits to perform and interpret results of automated calculations and analyses. Ability to read, understand, and analyze engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams. 6 months of experience in a transmission/distribution utility performing line engineering tasks Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system. Experience using PLS-CADD in the analysis or design of transmission lines. Experience using 3D modeling software, like SolidWorks, SolidEdge, or Inventor. Experience with database systems, like SQL, MS Access, or Power BI Valid U.S. Driver's License is required. Work sponsorship is not available at this time.
