GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Materials Physicist will be responsible for leading optical, electrical, and other materials characterization work on semiconductor materials and devices; for developing improved understanding of the relationships between crystal growth, processing and physical properties; and for interfacing with customers/partners on development of new semiconductor-related applications. The Materials Physicist works closely with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and technicians in an interactive environment to establish and improve engineering and production manufacturing capability. REQUIREMENTS PhD in Physics or another closely-related discipline, or B.S./M.S. plus at least 5 years of research experience. 2+ years' experience and expertise in characterization of semiconductor-related materials, optics, and/or device physics. 2+ years' experience working with semiconductor applications preferred. Experience with simple coding (e.g., Python, C++, VBA, etc.) desirable. ITAR eligibility is required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED. 4-year degree plus PhD in Engineering or related field. 4+ years' of related professional experience ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Independently designs experiments, metrology methods, and instruments related to gallium nitride (GaN) and related semiconductor materials; performs optical, electrical, and other materials characterization of semiconductor materials and semiconductor devices; writes simple code (e.g., Python, C++, VBA, etc.) to process data; develops measurement procedures.
