HP Inc. Data and AIML Engineering Manager in Vancouver, Washington

We're seeking a proven engineering leader to drive the evolution and delivery of our Data Engineering and AI/ML technology. In this role on our CSS Data Engineering team, you'll manage a team of Data Engineers and ML Engineers, and work with data scientists, analysts, data engineers, campaign managers, and other highly skilled professionals to enable building of CSS Customer Data platform providing accurate and timely analytics for business decisions and delivery of personalized, relevant, and timely customer communications. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to understand and anticipate business needs, organize, prioritize, and delegate to ensure the success of multiple initiatives in a timely manner.

  • In this role you will be working at the intersection of data engineering, AIML engineering (i.e., MLOps), driving teams to deliver innovative and High-quality Subscription services which power HP's growth.

  • You will be a strong advocate for both engineering standard methodologies (e.g. automated deployment, GitHub branching, consistent code reviews, unit testing) and adoption of new technologies (e.g. Databricks MLFlow, Azure OpenAI) which can help us move faster.

  • You will be responsible for managing engineers to continuously elevate their engineering skills and for growing their careers at HP.

  • Partner with Product team to understand/influence the roadmap, engage employees, assist the teams by removing roadblocks, align efforts across HP's cross-functional organizations to drive progress forward and always win as a team.

  • Advocacy for mature code management workflows, infrastructure as code, application lifecycle management, and operational standard methodologies

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work through complex technical situations with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences; ability to manage hybrid teams across multiple locations.

  • Experience driving change and the ability to handle escalations of issues from other associates; Strong ability to influence and drive consensus.

  • Understanding of Global privacy laws, company policies and procedures and ability to identify compliance and regulatory concerns.

  • Assigns responsibilities, provides direction, and coaching, removes barriers as needed to enable teams to execute their roles and achieve objectives and goals.

Education and experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent; or 10 years and a Master's degree.

  • At least 3+ years in a management role using Agile frameworks, processes, and team structures, using tools such as Jira, VersionOne etc.

Skill requirements

  • Experience with Cloud based DW such as Redshift, Snowflake etc.

  • Experience in Big Data Distributed and Lakehouse architecture-based systems such as Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, AWS EMR, etc.

  • Experience with Cloud environment (AWS preferred)

  • Familiarity with AI, ML, or analytics technologies such as Scikit-learn, Dask, Tensorflow, or similar platforms and Gen AI based frameworks.

  • Proven ability to articulate and/or have experience with MLOps and the lifecycle of model development from experimentation to production and measurement. Proven experience leading ML projects end to end cycle through data preprocessing, feature engineering, training, model deployment and model hosting.

Good to have

  • Experience working with multiple Big Data file formats (Parquet, Delta Lake)

  • Experience working on CI/CD processes such as Jenkins, Codeway etc. and source control tools such as GitHub, etc. Experience with cloud deployments, focused on CI/CD based automation, scale, performance, and reliability.

Per the Washington state statute, the estimated range of compensation for this job in that location , at the time of this posting, is $145,000 - $170,000. This position may be eligible for incentive pay, for openings where this is applicable.
