Cougar Center Manager, Student Affairs and Enrollment, Vancouver Campus

 

The Cougar Center Manager oversees the one-stop shop on the WSU Vancouver campus for questions regarding financial aid, admissions, registrations, accounts and more.

 

Summary of Duties:

 

Manage the Cougar Center, serving as the primary point of contact for all visitors, prospective students, and current students at WSU Vancouver. The Cougar Center serves as the one-stop student services center for the entire campus, and also includes the cashier station.

 

Provide individual advising and counseling of prospective and current students, parents/guardians, and visitors in person, by phone, and via email regarding admissions, registration, financial aid and/or scholarships, student accounts, and veterans services.

 

Provide individual advising and counseling of students and/or parents related to applying for and utilizing financial aid and scholarships.

 

This position requires thorough knowledge of federal financial aid policies related to Title IV, as well as university policies and procedures, and a solid understanding of campus resources.

 

Serve as a liaison within the enrollment management areas of student financial services, student accounts, admissions, and registration.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Positions require a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 

Three (3) years of experience working with students in a higher education setting, such as providing and/or overseeing activities in advising, career counseling, financial aid, outreach, recruitment and/or retention.

 

One (1) year supervisory experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• One (1) year financial aid experience.

 

• Customer service experience in a higher education environment.

 

• Cash handling experience.

 

• Proficient with database and spreadsheet software.

 

• Experience with student information systems such as PeopleSoft or Banner.

 

• Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication.

 

Essential Duties:

 

50% Program Coordination and Cougar Center Operations

 

25% Supervision

 

20% Advising and Financial Aid Support

 

5% Other duties as assigned.
