Community Health Systems Occupational Therapist in VALPARAISO, Indiana

Occupational Therapist - Full time - Inpatient Rehab - UP TO $20,000 SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE!

Join a fast-paced, skilled therapy team and make a difference in the lives of hundreds of patients!! The Occupational Therapist, with a focus on self-care and functional independence within the performance of activities of daily living, is responsible for the evaluation of referred patients in the acute care setting assessing medical and physical condition, functional capabilities, limitations, and potential for rehabilitation. The Occupational Therapist will administer a treatment plan of care with specific goals determined according to the patient's capacity, tolerance, and potential. The Occupational Therapist may supervise certified occupational therapy assistants, rehab techs, and students, and will work cooperatively with physicians, case managers and nursing staff.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy required

  • Master’s / Doctoral preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience in a relevant Occupational Therapy clinical role preferred, but not mandatory

Licensure & Certification:

  • Licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Indiana

  • CPR required within 3 months of hire

  • Advanced certifications for specialty areas are preferred for position

About the job:

  1. Assessment: Administers appropriate informal and/or formal evaluation procedures for all patient populations served.

  2. Planning - Develops treatment plan, goals and objectives based on analysis of the assessment and professional observations.

  3. Treatment - Utilizes appropriate treatment methods based on functional needs of patient.

  4. Education - Utilizes appropriate education and training to provide knowledge of illness and treatment needs as well as skills and behaviors that promote recovery and improve function.

  5. Documentation - Completes appropriate documentation and communication of all aspects of patient care including results of initial evaluation, plan of care, interventions, and response to interventions, changes in status, reassessments, education and discharge.

  6. Professionalism - Utilizes sound professional judgment based on knowledge, skill, education, training and experience.

  7. Clinical Application - Utilizes sound profession judgment based on knowledge of clinical practices, utilizing evidenced-based practice, and best-practice strategies.
