A Brief Summary of This Position:

This part-time/temporary role is an individual contributor position in our Lighting, Traffic & Communication Structures division. We seek experienced Drafters in steel manufacturing and fabrication to work evenings and weekends through May 2025 . Responsibilities include interpreting customer orders, creating production and submittal drawings, and liaising with other departments and customers as needed. The role involves processing drawings, managing order accuracy, and maintaining effective inter-departmental communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret customer specifications and order details.

  • Process orders and prepare necessary drawings and data.

  • Resolve issues related to customer information and manufacturing.

  • Maintain productivity, accuracy, and a cooperative attitude.

  • Update filing systems and stay current with drafting policies.

  • Identify and recommend improvements to drafting procedures and designs.

  • Support special assignments and provide technical assistance as needed.

Important Details:

  • The role reports to the Engineering Manager.

  • No direct reports or travel required.

  • Responsibilities include managing order backlog, maintaining accurate documentation, and handling special projects.

This role is critical to maintaining efficient order flow and ensuring quality standards are met.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:

  • Must be available to work 15-20 hours per week until May 2025. Hours can include nights/weekends to fit the candidate’s scheduling needs

  • High School diploma with 2+ years of relevant work or educational experience, including one year of drafting experience in the division's market channel

  • Proficiency in computer-aided drafting with a basic understanding of mathematics, typically acquired through an Associate of Applied Science degree or related experience, including Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry

  • Strong background in 2-D and/or 3-D modeling techniques and previous PC experience, including intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoDesk software.

  • Knowledge of product end-use, fabrication, and manufacturing processes

  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines, and strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a math-oriented approach.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Drafting

  • Autodesk Inventor 2013 or newer version

  • AutoCAD 2013, PDF (Nitro Pro), Zoom, Inventor 2019, Scientific Calculator and Drafting Equipment knowledge/experience
