A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Application Sales Specialist provides technical expertise to support Valmont's growing Ag solar business. This role involves pre-sales and post-sales activities for Valley Ag Solar Products, serving as a primary technical customer contact and collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and Design Engineering teams. Responsibilities include solar design, logistics, warranty, and sales support, mainly for the Valley Dealer Network, and working with end users and power companies to ensure successful projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Reports to NA America Water Delivery Manager; no direct or indirect reports

  • 25% travel to provide technical sales support and training

  • Assist Sales and Marketing with technical presentations

  • Create and use site drawings (single-line diagrams, schematics, etc.)

  • Analyze customer needs and support proposal development

  • Liaise between customers and engineering teams for problem-solving

  • Offer general technical support to customers, dealers, and sales teams

  • Provide input on product improvements and new developments

  • Coordinate customer visits, meetings, and ensure proper participation

  • Design solar systems per utility guidelines and codes

  • Perform other departmental duties as required

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Complete management reports

  • Drive efficiency and productivity through process improvements

  • Lead webinars for customer outreach and installer training

  • Support product development through idea creation and validation testing

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering (Electrical/Electronics) with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Associate’s Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Customer-focused with client liaison experience

  • Clear and concise presentation of technical topics

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • High interpersonal interaction and customer interfacing skills

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • Experience with ground-mounted solar systems and trackers

  • Solar industry experience, particularly in PV development projects

  • Familiarity with NEC and solar electrical practices

  • Experience with utility interconnection agreements

  • Knowledge of solar one-line diagrams
