Responsibilities
Interstate Waste Services – IWS – is hiring a Diesel Mechanic . This is an opportunity to work hard, make good money, and grow a successful career as a Diesel Mechanic.
Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. This specific role with deal primarily with our tractor trailer division . Utilizing diagnostic software, the Mechanic is responsible for interpreting failure modes and initiate or assign necessary repairs. At times, the Mechanic may be on call, and required to assist with emergency breakdowns.

Qualifications
OurDiesel Mechanicsperforminspection,diagnosisand repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment. Ensuresaccuratediagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components. Additionalresponsibilities include:
Performs all workin accordance withestablished safety procedures.
Covering Roadside breakdowns
Completes required paperworkutilizingfleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Assistsin the repair and adjustment of equipment.
Washes vehicles and equipment.
Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
Assistswith service calls for breakdowns.
Perform other maintenance related work asrequired.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.

Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
A valid driver’s license is required. CDL preferred.
Experience working on heavy duty diesel equipment OR training from a recognized trade school is required.
Must be able to speak and read English well enough to converse with colleagues, drivers and dispatch, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records.
Must be able to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.
Must be able to provide own tools
Other duties as assigned.
