Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Welcome Center Assistant -FT in Valdosta, Georgia

The Welcome Center Assistant supports the college's overall mission by providing excellent customer service to the college community. The primary duties of the Assistant will be to provide a friendly greeting for all college customers; receive and route telephone calls; efficiently determine the nature of a customer's business and provide requested information in order to forward customers to the appropriate locations; and stay abreast of Wiregrass happenings and activities in order to provide personnel and visitors with the most up to date/correct information. The Assistant may also provide clerical support for Human Resources and Operations; assist with the coordination of special events on campus; assist with student parking decal distribution; assist with college directory updates. Because they are the first contact at the college for most internal and external customers, the successful candidate is expected to have a positive, upbeat demeanor, possess a strong work ethics, including attendance and communication skills, and a desire to promote Wiregrass opportunities to the surrounding community.

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including multi-line phone.
  • Working Conditions: Category III - No foreseen exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens. Limited probability of working beyond the normal shift. Travel is rarely required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent

and

Six (6) months of experience directly related to reception work. Knowledge of multi-line phone system operation and basic computer software are required. Outstanding customer service skills and professionalism are required. Must have the ability to lift 5-10 lbs. and endure prolonged standing and walking. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
