North Star Management Maintenance and Repair Worker in Valdez, Alaska

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Staff Member to join our team, ensuring that our affordable housing properties are safe, well-maintained, and comfortable for residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, technical skills, and a commitment to providing excellent service to our diverse resident community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, painting, and HVAC maintenance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings, units, and common areas to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
  • Respond to work orders submitted by residents or property management staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with preparing vacant units for new residents, including cleaning, repairs, and inspections.
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of common areas, including hallways, lobbies, laundry rooms, and outdoor spaces.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or larger maintenance projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, supplies, and equipment usage.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing resident concerns and fostering a positive living environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade certifications or technical training preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in affordable housing or similar residential settings.
  • Familiarity with HUD housing standards and compliance requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
