Bargain Grocery Warehouse Manager in Utica, New York

Leads the creation and management of an efficient, sustainable warehouse and inventory system for a non-profit warehouse that is also a food recovery organization. Ensures timely and accurate distribution of products, including food items often close to expiration, as well as household supplies and appliances. Oversees warehouse staff and daily operations to adapt to the fast-paced, constantly changing inventory environment with a focus on minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Additional duties may be assigned) Develops and implements an agile warehouse and inventory management system designed to handle the unique challenges of food recovery, including products near expiration. Manages the timely receiving, sorting, storage, and distribution of perishable and non-perishable items, ensuring quality and freshness. Monitors inventory levels, product rotation, and waste reduction strategies to ensure optimal use of recovered food and resources. Proactively identifies issues and provides rapid solutions to adapt to fluctuating product availability and distribution needs. Collaborates with other departments to ensure efficient movement of goods while maintaining organizational objectives related to reducing food waste. Oversees warehouse staff with a focus on fostering a proactive, problem-solving mindset, ensuring that team members can adapt quickly to product flow changes. Ensures strict compliance with food safety standards, warehouse safety protocols, and company policies. Continuously analyzes warehouse performance and implements action plans to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance adaptability. Supervisory Responsibilities:

Leads warehouse staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance with an emphasis on initiative, quick thinking, and adaptability. Ensures team is prepared to handle unpredictable shifts in inventory, encouraging innovation and outside-the-box thinking. Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED required. 3+ years of experience in warehouse management, preferably in food recovery or related industries. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. Leadership skills with a focus on developing a proactive, adaptable team. Ability to think on your feet and handle unexpected changes in product availability. Knowledge of food safety and inventory control for perishable products. Ability to analyze and respond to warehouse challenges with creative, outside-the-box solutions. Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying warehouse conditions. Adaptability to work with time-sensitive food items and manage unpredictable shifts in inventory. *Compensation to be determined by your skillset and experience.
