Description

Stronger Communities New York (SCNY) is the parent company providing administrative support for both The House of the Good Shepherd and Together for Youth. This position will be a part of SCNY and is based in Utica, NY. The Accounts Receivable Billing Specialist will follow The House of the Good Shepherd's (HGS) guidelines regarding benefits, compensation and all policies and procedures as outlined in the HGS employee handbook.

Position Overview:

The Accounts Receivable Billing Specialist for Medicaid plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate billing, maximizing revenue, and minimizing accounts receivable balances related to Medicaid/MCO services. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of Medicaid billing regulations, and proficiency in billing software and systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit accurate billing claims to Medicaid and/or MCO’s for services provided to eligible beneficiaries, ensuring compliance with Medicaid billing guidelines and regulations.

  • Monitor the status of Medicaid claims, follow up on outstanding claims, and resolve billing discrepancies or denials in a timely manner to minimize accounts receivable balances.

  • Manage the Medicaid revenue cycle from claim submission to payment reconciliation, including posting payments, identifying, and appealing claim denials.

  • Coordinate with internal departments, healthcare providers, and Medicaid/MCO’s to address billing inquiries, resolve payment issues, and ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for Medicaid services.

  • Protect agency values by keeping information confidential.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• HS Diploma required: Associate degree preferred.

• 2-3 years medical billing experience required.

• Other Accounting experience a plus.
