Vertafore Sr. Site Reliability Engineer in US, United States

$85,000 - $120,000 / year

We are looking for a talented technologist to assure high availability and stability of our Vertafore products. The successful candidate must have a can-do attitude and competency in delivering innovative and practical solutions to achieve our technology and business objectives. This position reports up to the Site Reliability Manager.

Core Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert on how the applications works, its underlying architecture, and data relationships.

  • Address support escalations from Customer Support, Global Command Center and other SaaS Operation teams.

  • Debug and correct application configurations, codes, database queries, and data to restore an incident.

  • Own root cause analysis.

  • Review and implement solution with assurance that permanent resolution is in place.

  • Primary resource to resolve complex incident or problem.

  • Automate processes and develop product/team performance metrics dashboard.

  • Continuous recommend/implement solutions to improve processes and team productivity.

  • Collaborate with Global Command Center and other SaaS Operation teams to ensure proactive monitoring, high availability, and performance of products to achieve the best customer experience.

  • Create and maintain runbooks that outlined development support procedures.

  • Participate or lead in assigned projects.

  • Communicate solutions effectively to technical and non-technical teams.

  • Comply with standard processes and security policies when implementing solutions.

  • Be on call as required to respond to the emergency escalation that engagement of development needed.

  • Technical mentor to other SRE as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of three years in software development uses C#, Angular, JSON, or other relevant programming languages.

  • Basic system administration skills. Able to navigate on both Windows and Linux servers.

  • Must have great understanding with web engines such as IIS, tomcat or equivalent technology.

  • Experience in writing database queries/stored procedures on SQL Server or equivalent database platforms.

  • Continuous practicing of software engineering best practices that include Agile methodology.

  • A great problem solver by using reverse engineering discipline. Ability to simplify complex issues.

  • Great understanding with data centers and cloud infrastructure.

  • Experience supporting products in AWS highly desired.

  • Fast learner and not afraid of dealing with the unknown. Comfortable to work in a fast tempo environment.

  • Great sense of urgency. Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Able to comply with processes and procedures.

  • Able to maintain professional composure in any situations.

  • Exposure to the ITIL framework is highly desired.

  • Flexible in working extended hours on occasions or as required.

  • Exposure to the insurance industry is desired but not mandatory.

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or established professionals with relevant experience.

  • Minimum of two years as a mid-level Software Engineer with application support background.

Additional Requirements and Details:

  • Travel required up to 10% of the time.

  • Located and working from an office location.

  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.

  • Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (working on a computer, etc.).

  • Frequent sitting and/or standing.
