The School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in Architectural Design. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor will be considered for candidates with an established record of accomplishments in research and teaching. Expected start date is August 16, 2025.

Responsibilities:

The position carries equal responsibilities in research and teaching, with teaching obligations to include two design studios and one seminar/lecture course per year. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue an active research and/or design agenda and to contribute to the civic life of the School, University, and community through service and engagement. Paths to impact for this position could include traditional scholarly research, design recognition through display, construction, competition, or recognized community-partnered innovation.

Qualifications:

Required:

• A professional and terminal degree in Architecture: Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch Professional) with a Post-professional master, or a Master of Architecture (M.Arch Professional), or equivalent.
• Experience as a design studio instructor.
• Evidence of professional and/or academic design work.

Preferred:

• Post-professional degree in Architecture or related design discipline.
• Professional experience and/or licensure, or equivalent.
• A broad range of academic and scholarly work.
• Demonstrated experience teaching and coordinating undergraduate and graduate Architectural design studios.
• Experience that demonstrates innovative teaching and research firmly focused on design as an emerging and evolving approach to understanding and meeting the unique challenges of our moment.
• Work and research experience or a demonstrated interest pertaining to social justice and well-being, sustainability of the built environment, and architecture design
• Experience demonstrating a broad range of design inquiry and the capacity to bridge disciplines and/or scales that contribute to engagement in contemporary design culture and collaboration in design-research endeavors.

The salary range of employees currently holding equivalent positions for Assistant Professors is \$77,550 - \$84,200 and for Associate Professors is \$91,800 - \$113,457. Additional responsibilities include service through shared governance to the department, school, college, campus, university, discipline, and/or the local community. Candidates will participate in re
