Employ Prince George's Career Consultant in Upper Marlboro, Maryland

Hybrid

Compensation: $58,220 annually; benefits include health, life, and dental insurance, internet allowance, paid time off, and 401(k) profit sharing.

The Career Consultant for Career Services Department is the primary point of contact for all program participants engaged in demographic and industry bridge programs. The Consultant provides continuous case management and follow-up services to program participants and motivates them to achieve their training and employment goals. They will support each participant in completing the eligibility process, developing a customized training plan, removing barriers through supportive service assistance, and assisting with training and job placement. The incumbent will be evaluated according to their ability to meet performance goals, including, the number of participants enrolled in the program, the number of participants completing training and attaining credentials, entering employment, retaining employment, and attaining wages of a specified standard. The Career Consultant must display initiative, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions consistent with program goals.

The Career Consultant reports to the Coordinator, Career Services, and works closely with a network of industry partners, members of the American Job Center Community Network, and the Talent Acquisition and Education, Training, and Assessments Departments. This position has no supervisory functions.

Essential Responsibilities:

Interaction with Program Participants

  • Recruit and assess the eligibility of participants per the project plan
  • Assist program participants as they identify their individual career goals and establish a service strategy based on informal and formal assessments
  • Link participants with appropriate resources and services to accomplish career goals
  • Contact participants regularly to monitor progress and address any barriers that need to be removed to increase the overall success rate of training and career goals
  • Provide coaching and direction to keep participants on track
  • Assist participants in obtaining employment by identifying suitable job leads and making referrals
  • Deliver presentations and conduct orientations on eligibility and program services
  • Participate in recruitment and outreach events to build a participant base.

Case Management Regulatory Functions

  • Ensure that participants meet program eligibility requirements; collect and store documents used to validate eligibility.
  • Maintain case records detailing service needs, activities, and program outcomes in Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) or other database systems, according to established procedures.
  • Record relevant outreach and engagement data in the Virtual Career Center electronic database
  • Process training and support services requests accurately and on time
  • Coordinate services and activities with industry partners, social service agencies, and other relevant consortium partners to meet contract deliverables
  • Complete reports as required to e sure the efficient and effective management of participant cases
