JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Applied Linguistics at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-timeVisiting Assistant Professor, to start August 2025.

A Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Educational Linguistics, or related fields is required by the appointment date.The position is a non-tenure-track, term appointment, with the possibility of renewal. The position will be filled at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor.

The candidate must demonstrate evidence of scholarly research potential and a record of teaching excellence. The Visiting Assistant Professor will be expected to teach courses primarily in the Undergraduate Applied Linguistics Major, TESOL Minor, and the M.A. in TESOL, with the possibility of teaching other graduate courses offered by the Department of Applied Linguistics as needed. This position will include resident and normal university service. The teaching load during the academic year is two courses per semester. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
