JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The School of Music in the College of Arts & Architecture at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Piano position starting August 15, 2025.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished performer-teacher with a collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to creative, inclusive teaching practices. An earned doctorate is required.

This position requires the candidate to do advanced DMA-level teaching and solid, thoughtful undergraduate pedagogy. A level of scholarship, writing, and mentorship abilities appropriate for doctoral-level committee leadership is required. Instructional duties may include (but are not limited to) studio teaching for majors and non-majors, piano literature courses, collaborative piano, chamber music coaching, and/or other courses in the candidate's unique areas of expertise.

We seek an applicant who will maintain an active regional, national, and international performance profile, and develop a creative and scholarly agenda appropriate to an R-1 university tenure-track position. The successful candidate will have ideas for cultivating a vibrant, diverse musical population in our School, and has an innovative plan for recruiting undergraduates and graduate students from international, national, state, and local circles. The ability to nurture a supportive studio community is essential. The successful candidate will have a keen sense of responsibility to community outreach and will be willing to make a substantial investment in state and local musical activities. The position requires university service duties appropriate to a tenure-track assistant professor.
