JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Transportation Services is seeking to hire a full-time Sustainable Transportation Program Assistant, reporting to the Sustainable Transportation Program Manager. The Sustainable Transportation Program is committed to the promotion of transportation options that help to reduce traditional single occupancy vehicle travel while also maintaining a safe shared space for all. Additionally, this program promotes healthy active transportation as well as Penn State’s overall goals of reducing the campus’ environmental impact such as through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The primary sustainable transportation programs being supported by this position include biking, car share, transit, ride share, and pedestrian safety. This position’s specific duties will include: best practice benchmarking with peer institutions, support for Bicycle Friendly America application, assist with the creation and implementation of a more robust carpool and ridesharing program, bike rack checks, bike counts, bike infrastructure planning support, and bike education workshops. This position will also assist in providing customer service for our RIDEpass transit pass program and general support for campus biking, transit, pedestrian safety, car share, rideshare, and bike share programs, to include staffing tables and assisting at education and community events. Strong customer service and communication skills (written and verbal) are a must due to frequent interactions with faculty, staff, students, and members of the community. Must be able to work well with direction, be comfortable with working both indoors and outdoors, have a moderate degree of confidence and comfort around bikes, and have competent working knowledge of programs within MS Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. This position will typically work 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Education and Experience: Minimum requirement of a High School diploma or higher plus two (2) year of related experience. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
