JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania Housing Research Center (https://www.phrc.psu.edu/) (PHRC) at Penn State is seeking an individual with diverse qualifications that is well-suited to assist the center with its mission to improve the quality and affordability of housing in Pennsylvania.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Develop, promote, and conduct or facilitate training and technical education programs, including video content and webinars for design professionals, code officials, and residential builders and contractors.

  • Serve as a liaison between the PHRC and Pennsylvania builders by attending two or three Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA) board meetings per year and helping to facilitate the PBA/PHRC breakfast meeting, as well as attending trade and professional association meetings and serving on various committees, such as local education committees, as appropriate.

  • Contribute to the development and production of the PHRC educational video library, builder briefs, and policy reports.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of, and relationships with, the residential construction and land development industries, as well as codes including International Residential Code, International Energy Conservation Code, and PA Uniform Construction Code.

  • Serve on various state and national level committees, as appropriate.

  • Contribute and assist in the development of the PHRC Magazine, annual reports, research proposals, and the annual PHRC Housing Conference.

Requirements and Qualifications:

This position requires a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Degrees in architecture, civil, mechanical, or architectural engineering, or related fields are preferred. Experience in some aspect of the residential construction, land development, and/or housing industry is highly desirable.

Additional Information:

This is a limited-term position, funded for one year from date of hire, with an excellent possibility of renewal.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
