JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) (https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/counseling) , University Park, has an opening for a Psychologist position available beginning August 8, 2024.

Duties include providing individual and group psychotherapy, initial consultations and triage, outreach, and consultation, clinical supervision to trainees, and crisis intervention. Expertise in collaborative care for transgender and gender diverse clients, consulting with campus partners regarding services for sexual and gender diverse clients, as well as experience training staff related to clinical considerations in working with clients identifying as sexual and/or gender diverse is preferred. Recognizing the unique needs of sexual and/or gender-diverse communities, it is preferred that candidates have a strong commitment to social justice and can navigate multiple layers of identity, including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, nationality, class, disability, religion, sexuality, and gender.

All clinicians on our staff perform their duties while adhering to and promoting trauma-informed care and healing-centered approaches and principles, in alignment with the establishment of the Commonwealth of PA as a trauma-informed, healing-centered state.

Requirements

  • This position will be filled at an Advanced or Senior Professional level, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. The Advanced professional typically requires a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and three years of relevant experience or higher. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher-level jobs.

  • A one-year, full-time doctoral internship in Professional Psychology or Health Service Psychology is required

  • Licensed eligibility as a Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required, with the expectation that the license is obtained within 18 months of hire. Current licensure as a Psychologist is preferred.

  • This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$68,200.00 - $115,100.00
