JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center for Geomechanics, Geofluid, and Geohazards (http://g3.ems.psu.edu) at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar (48-week) position to conduct cutting-edge research in geohealth initiative related to aerosol and mineral dust characterization, health impact studies, and advanced data analytics. This position will work on lab design, data collection, data analysis, and report writing for the geohealth initiative. The applicant will also be expected to work on fluid-rock interaction experiments for hydrogen production, including rock matrix measurement, rock imaging, and mineralogical characterization. Successful candidates report to and work with the Director of the Center for Geomechanics, Geofluid, and Geohazards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct both applied and fundamental research involving aerosol and mineral dust characterization, health impact studies, and advanced data analytics.

  • Assist in research proposals.

  • Document research findings in reports and referred journals.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in engineering or a related discipline by the start date. They should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work in teams.

This is a term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with the possibility of re-funding.
