JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Electronic Fabrication and Test Systems Department, part of the Undersea Systems Office (USO) at The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL), is looking for an Electrical Engineering Support Specialist to support multiple projects and a wide range of tasks.

You Will:
Assist, perform, or provide input to the layout, fabrication, assembly, documentation, and testing of standard and non-standard electronic equipment
Assist or evaluate the selection and purchase of materials and components and interact with vendors
Assist with or install, calibrate, operate and/or maintain standard and non-standard equipment, experimental hardware, and/or computer systems in the Laboratory or in the field, assist with or assess and identifying system faults, repair/adjust standard and non-standard equipment
Assist senior technical/engineering staff in gathering, compiling, and archiving test data in the Laboratory or off-site
Work as part of a test project support team in the Laboratory or off-site
This position can be filled at multiple levels, depending upon your education and experience. Minimal requirements include an Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level position. A degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, graduation from a technical trade college/vocational technical school, or military experience are preferred. Light physical effort is required to assemble and/or operate equipment.
Higher level positions require experience in the following areas:
Working independently and directing small projects with limited support
Resolving complex issues and recommending corrective course of action
Component level troubleshooting of electronics and cable interconnect systems experience
Professional communication with internal and external audiences
Required experience areas include:
Electronics and/or electro-mechanics
Operating electronic test equipment, and the ability to assemble and test electronic circuitry
Microsoft Office, with the ability and willingness to perform basic computer tasks or learn computer programs
Preferred skills/experience areas include:
SMT Soldering
Cable assembly
Ability to interpret schematics and other technical documentation
An active secret government security clearance
Your working location will be fully on-site located in State College, PA. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. This position will require periodic travel to remote locations in support of testing as part of a small team of researchers, engineers, and technologists.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$46,400.00 - $74,000.00
