JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park Campus, PA, USA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or an Associate Professor position in Applied Mathematics . The department seeks to expand its expertise in applied mathematics, in cluding mathematics applied to the life sciences in areas such as data-driven modeling, mathematical biology, mathematical biofluids, and biomedicine. Candidates whose research complements existing strengths or fosters interdisciplinary connections across departments are encouraged to apply.

Candidates for  Assistant Professor  must possess a Ph.D . (or equivalent terminal degree) in Mathematics or a closely related field by the appointment start date ; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher or research worker; and must have shown definite evidence of growth in scholarly or professional achievement.

Candidates for  Associate Professor  must possess the same qualifications as the assistant professor but must also provide evidence of an established reputation in scholarly or professional achievement.

In addition to research in Mathematics or closely related fields, the position includes teaching in the Mathematics department at the undergraduate and graduate level, and service duties. Applicants will have been awarded a Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Mathematics or a closely related field by the appointment start date.

  • Four reference letters, one of which must address your teaching experience and effectiveness in detail.

  • Publication list ( if this is not included in your Curriculum Vitae ) .

  • Research statement: a detailed statement of your research accomplishments and your future research plans (maximum 5 pages).

  • Teaching statement: a statement of your teaching philosophy and interests (maximum 2 pages). ​ ​
