JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

T he Pennsylvania State University (http://psu.edu/) is seeking a candidate for an Administrative Support Assistant in the Eberly College of Science (http://science.psu.edu/) 's Department of (http://science.psu.edu/bmb) Biochemistry & Molecular Biology . The Administrative Support Assistant will be a detailed oriented and organized individual who will provide direct administrative and professional support. This position will perform complex tasks with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Provide leadership to the planning and facilitation of support activities for an office or work unit

  • Respond to routine and moderately complex questions/issues concerning unit/University policies, processes, and procedures from internal and external contacts

  • Create and maintain files, databases, and reports

  • Monitor and maintain budgets; track expenditures for seven research faculty members along with their lab personnel and graduate students

  • These tasks require knowledge in Simba, PSUBuy and SAP Concur Penn State systems

  • Examples of these tasks are purchasing card reconciliation, purchase orders and other financial-related job assignments

  • Generate, prepare, and maintain reports and spreadsheets, and authorize processing of payments

  • Compile and organize information to develop agendas, meeting materials, and reports

  • Arrange meetings; lead coordination and planning of special events, conferences, and other functions

  • Support the planning and coordination of moderately complex projects

  • Serve on various committees; prepare agendas, take and compose minutes

  • Develop website content and maintain web pages

  • May act as or support facilities coordinator and manage keys/key inventory

  • May assist in the supervision and training of student and assigned support staff

  • Serve as resource to others on a variety of subjects including office equipment, software application usage, and information processing procedures

    This position requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    This position will require successful completion of standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
