JBT Corporation Software Engineer in United Kingdom, United States

Overview Our Automated Guided Vehicle and Automated Systems Site, in Leicester, is seeking a Software Engineer who is disciplined and structured in their approach to work and enjoys projects work with a sense of achievement. Reporting into our Senior Software Engineer you will work across the business, working with Electrical, Mechanical and Installation Engineers and be led by our Project Managers. Based on this, we are looking for someone who values being part of a team and working towards the business goal. This is an exciting challenge for someone looking to build upon their experience as a Software Engineer we value continuous improvement at AGV and we have a fantastic team, who are always on hand to support. Workplace location will be onsite in Leicester or visiting customer sites both domestic and international giving support. Responsibilities As our Software Engineer you will be involved in the design, development, and installation of our AGV systems and After Market software support. Ideally you can: Develop and implement software projects using the Microsoft Windows development environment using J Script, C#, XML/JSON, and a variety of ODBC/ADO compliant database packages and SQL Server. Interact with project managers and customers to understand the requirements and deliverables for a project. Develop software functional specifications and design specifications. Specification and acquisition of project computer hardware and commercial software. Setup and configure Windows Server operating system for use in manufacturing production systems. Complete assignments as part of a diverse project team. Travel to customer sites and working away from home for extended periods. Train customer personnel on the use of the system. Remote and on-site support of installed systems. Participation in the out-of-hours telephone hotline support. Qualifications What we would like to see on your resume ... Minimum of a bachelor's degree (B. S.) in a Computer Science or Engineering discipline where strong computing applications and development can be demonstrated Proficiency in SQL programming and prior programming experience in C++, Java, C# or other equivalent language required. Technical competence and be keen to learn new technologies. Experience with Web Development and Web Services would be advantageous. Experience troubleshooting issues with users (Customer Facing). Excellent oral and written skills Work on independent tasks, or collaborate with others on larger tasks Travel on short notice for up to 25% of the time, domestic and international.
