Position Summary:

The purpose of the Graduate Registered Nurse (GRN) is to deliver care to residents utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation under the direction of the residents' attending physician. The GRN will effectively interact with residents, family and other health team members while maintaining all standards of professional nursing under the Supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse.  *Essential Functions: * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

•    Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of preventative therapeutic and rehabilitative nursing care of assigned resident as evidenced by documentation and observation of positive resident care outcomes. •    Performs independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines and standards. •    Admits and evaluates residents including baseline care plan. •    Administers assessments, treatments, medications, and diets accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record and lack of negative outcomes. •    Maintains accurate narcotic count and sign in logbook. •    Completes all required resident charting every shift. •    Makes rounds on unit every shift; assess orderliness, infection control and resident care. •    Observes and documents changes in residents' condition and reports to the attending physician and other departments as necessary. •    Participates in discharge planning with physician, and other deparhnents according to residents' needs. •    Directs, supervises, and assists Nurse Aides and other nursing staff in providing bedside care. •    Works collaboratively with other members of the health care team in coordination of the resident's care as evidenced by other department feedback and coordinates communication among team.

•    Attends all required training and in-services. •    Responsible for maintaining personal professional licensure and/or credentialing.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may have supervisory responsibilities related to Licensed Practical Nurses and Nurse Aides.  Work Environment  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in skilled nursing facility atmosphere that has controlled heat and cold. The noise level is moderate to quiet. The RN may be exposed to residents with contagious illness and must follow established protocols regarding infectious disease control.  *Physical Demands *

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

• This position requires a variety of activity levels including frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and occasional sitting.

• The employee may be required to frequently lift items up to 50 lbs.

Education I Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Active, unencumbered licensure as a Graduated Registered Nurse in state of employment, or active, unencumbered multi-stated licensures in state of residence.

•    Current AHA health care provider training (BCLS). •    Demonstrated experience within a skilled nursing facility preferred.
