PROCESS UTILITY PERSON

The following applies to PROCESS UTILITY PERSON

I – Entry Level

FUNCTIONS – applies to all functions listed below associated with each task: housekeeping, equipment and process field inspections (PM duties), lubrication, troubleshooting, minor repairs and adjustments, use of various tools, operation of mobile equipment and knowledge of environmental and safety rules as well as the functionality of all Plant equipment:

II – After four (4) months worked in Level I

Performs material handling activities, as needed, using overhead cranes, front end loaders and other mobile equipment Locate, monitor and perform field inspections on all Plant equipment Make minor mechanical repairs. Initiate necessary actions (report on, operate, repair, clean, feed, adjust, etc., plant equipment as required by supervisor) Assist maintenance department personnel as needed Perform preventive maintenance inspection and check lubrication systems Perform whatever work as needed on preheater tower, such as operate cardox, blasters, air/water lances, clean ducts and vessels, inspect/troubleshoot equipment Assist in laboratory product sampling and procedures Locate and check out spare parts as needed Perform housekeeping duties as assigned Perform minor electrical work (moved language from previous Appendix H, Section 1) *

III – After six (6) months worked in Level II and qualified on all mobile equipment

Employee will operate all mobile equipment annually to maintain Level III

  • Minor electrical work includes such things as testing and replacing low voltage fuses, operate external disconnects on high voltage switchgear, testing and replacing small electrical devices (such as solenoids), adjustments to small electrical devices (such as proximity and limit switches), and observation of inputs and outputs on I/O racks. Low voltage is less than 480 volts and high voltage is 480 volts or more. PUPs will only work with low voltage equipment and devices, except that they may operate external disconnects and resets for high voltage equipment. PUPs may repair damaged drop cords. PUPs will not be changing motors, running conduit, or other major electrical work.
