Job Description

Location: Twinsburg Ohio

The Business Line Director of Programs role is to lead the program teams and all the stakeholders of the Business Line to ensure customer satisfaction and economic performance of the program while monitoring and mastering risk level. They are in charge of managing program activities of the Business Line in consistency with the Safran Program management referential: PROMPT, ONE Safran and associate Group Procedure (GRP-0203, GRP-0204, GRP-0206, GRP-0207, GRP-0208, GRP-0209, GRP-0210, GRP-0289).

The Business Line Director of Programs is the accountable manager for achieving program objectives of the Business Line from contract awards (S3 milestone) to removal from service (S12 milestone). This requires to ensure the global coordination by the program teams of all the activities of the Business Line to

•Deliver expected program figures as defined in Medium Term Plan (MTP)

•Ensure consistency with customer expectation

•Limit risk exposure generated by program activities to an acceptable level

During Bids phase (S1 to S2 milestone), the Business Line Director of Programs has to ensure that the program team validate the RC and NRC estimates and associated assumption to ensure delivery of a sound business case at S3.

During R&T phase (S0), the Business Line Director of Programs has to ensure coordination by program teams of technology roadmaps and associate schedule, milestone and budget. The role holder is also in charge (in cooperation with the Business Line Director and other member of the Business Line management) to ensure alignment of technology roadmaps with medium and long term objectives of the Business Line.

The order of magnitudes for is role are:

•A team of 20 people

•overseeing yearly sales of over $150M

•Direct contact with multiple customers

•Management of activities evolving in multiple countries

•Management of complex development Involving partnership and risk and revenue contractual agreement

•Manage operationally customer satisfaction, profitability of business plan and control risk level within the Business Line

•Guarantee that the program process is properly deployed in the Business Line

•Ensure empowerment of program teams across the Business Line

•Manage, develop and hire Program talents in the Business Line

•Participate to construction and approval of business plan during bid phase (S1 to S2)

•Build program MTP of the Business Line

•Monitor program performance at Business Line level

•Ensure program reporting (internal and external)

•Ensure an efficient steering of programs within the Business Line

•Be the escalation point of Business Line program managers

•Ensure deployment of efficient corrective action in case of drift on a program

Complementary Description

•Organize program reviews and PROMPT milestone

•Support Program audit at Business Line level

•Proactively drives improvements in the program management process in consistency with the other Business line and in accordance with One Safran and Safran+.

•Participate to the strategic reflection of the Business Line

•Build and pilot the planning of transition from R&T to R&D

•In case of conflict between programs priorities, make arbitration between priorities to save guard major interest of the Business Line

Key performance measures:

1) Compliance with MTP figures in term of program yearly revenue and program yearly budget

2) Less than 10% of red score card during customer satisfaction (criteria are OTD, OQD, TTGF, adherence to customer schedule)

3) PROMPT Milestones on time

4) Successful program process audit

Key relationships

•Report hierarchically to Business Line COO

•Report functionally to Division program director

•Direct Manager of Senior Program Managers & Program Manages

•Interface Site General Managers and Leaders of other organization of the company

BL Program Director has the delegation of the Business Line Director and Site General Mgr to coordinate activities and decide orientation on the scope

The B L program Mgr has authority to decide

•Arbitration between program of the Business Line

•Tactical management of customer

•Organization of the program resource of the Business Line

•Approve spending with budget allocated to the programs

Job Requirements

Knowledge, skills and experience:

Education / Experience:

•Bachelor + 10 years of relevant experience or Masters + 8 years of relevant work experience

•Strong track record with proven experience, including experience leading cross-functional program teams is essential

•Experience of working in a matrix organization.

•Experience within an Engineering environment is strongly preferred

•Aerospace and/ or defence program mgnt experience strongly preferred

•Experience with managing US Military Programs is strongly preferred

•Career progression both in job responsibility and relevant education/training must be demonstrated.

•A strong background in managing program financials, business cases is required. (Must understand basics of finance)

•A background in contractual negotiation is required

•Training and experience in applying Program Mgnt standards and tools to a business. (Program planning, monitoring and control, integrated program management and risk management).

•Must understand constraints of operation activities (order fulfilment process, Turn Around Time, procurement cycle, learning curve, efficiency, production burden, cost escalation )

Skills:

•Leadership Skills : Exceptional leadership along with the ability to interface with cross-functional disciplines; using excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion

•Project/programme management: Fully understand the project management methodology (management of costs, deadlines, quality, etc.) and implement and train and coach others as part of a programme activity. Proven skills in managing large complex programs
