Job Description

Location: Twinsburg

The Mechanical Project Engineer I is responsible for supporting the design, development, manufacturing, analysis, and test of the air-cooled and liquid-cooled conversion units within the engineering department. This includes all phases of the project including but not limited to proposals, development, testing and production support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Performs the work of design, manufacturing, and test engineer as needed to support the assigned programs with support from a lead engineer.

•Supports and participates in technical reviews (design, manufacturing, and test, etc.)

•Supports technical proposals, cost estimates, test procedures and specifications, process qualification procedures, status reports, technical reports, and schedules as needed.

•Reviews customer specifications and support the design of products that will perform as required with guidance from a lead engineer

•Initiates actions to solve problems for ongoing products or for new product designs and propose cost reductions

•Develops CAD models and 2D drawings for design and analysis of generators and associated parts

•Provide assistance and support testing of new and legacy products with guidance from a lead engineer

•Support the diagnosis and troubleshooting test failures

•Adheres to all safety protocols and 5S guidelines

•Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture;

•Travel requirements: May be required to travel regularly both domestically in the U.S. and internationally, up to 50%

•Other duties may be assigned

•Evening/night hours may be required

•Extra hours may be required during business peaks

Complementary Description

Physical Demands

•While performing the duties of the position, this role will be regularly required to stand, walk sit, lift, use hands and fingers, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms and observe with naked eye or via various instruments.

•This role will occasionally be required to lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment

•The work environment is mainly in office but depending on the phase of the project could be split between office and testing or production floor areas. The environment in some areas may requires wearing PPE or other equipment.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

•Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

•A minimum one to two (1-2) years experience in product development, electrical equipment and/or aerospace preferred

•In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equalvalent along with a minimum of three (3) years experience in product development, electrical equipment and/or aerospace preferred

•Demonstrated skills in design principles, interpreting blueprints, drawings including GD&T and process documents

•Demonstrated problem solving skills

•Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. person within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee or Refugee.

Knowledge/Skills:

•Good understanding of design, manufacturing, and test processes and constraints inherent to the aerospace industry

•Knowledge in reading/creating design drawings

•Experience in CAD (preferred SolidWorks) and 2D drawings

•Proficient in MS Office

•Experience with basic tooling including measuring equipments

•Enthusiastic and focused

•Team oriented and ability to work in a team environment

•Ability to work on multiple assignements with shift in prioirities

•Ability to interpret complex information and convey a simplified message to team members of varying technical expertise

•Strong desire to learn and take on responsibilities that may fall outside of normal job scope

•Strong written and verbal communication skills
