Position Title
Associate Professor and Department Head
Job Summary
The Department Heads responsibilities are to be a leader among the faculty in developing strong student advising, teaching, research, public service, and academic programs within the department. In addition to teaching, research, and service, the Head will decide on academic matters of selection, retention, tenure, promotion, and work assignments of faculty and department personnel, apply academic policy, respond to student needs, pursue the accreditation process of the academic programs within the department, oversee use and maintenance of department facilities and equipment, prepare and administer departmental budgets, and develop and maintain both internal and external relationships to the department.
Essential Job Duties
- Teaching courses within the Construction Management Program.
- Provide leadership toward achieving the highest possible level of excellence in the departments teaching, research, and service activities.
- Maintain the academic quality and vitality of the departments programs, including oversight of curriculum expansion, faculty development, and the expansion of scholarship and research activities.
- Recruit and retain faculty consonant with the departments mission and goals; involve faculty and other relevant constituents in broad decision-making and planning through ongoing consultations.
- Engage in fundraising activities internally and externally.
- Oversee program assessment and ACCEaccreditation compliance and reports.
- Coordinate the scheduling of departmental course offerings.
- Manage the department budget efficiently.
- Maintain updated records and create updates on program development for undergraduate and the CSMminors program, which may lead to a new graduate degree program.
- Ensure smooth daily operation of the department and oversee CSMfaculty.
- Communicate effectively information regarding policies, procedures, decisions, and relevant activities and events to all departmental constituencies.
- Teach a minimum of 6 credit hours.
- Other duties as assigned by the dean
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned terminal Master of Engineering degree with an emphasis in Construction Management and at least ten (10) years of Construction Management experience working within the US Construction industry.
- Experience in the American Council for Construction Education ( ACCE) accreditation process.
- Certification in NCEERConstruction Craft Training.
- Five (5) or more years of professional practice and college teaching experience in an ACCE-accredited program

- Knowledge of Pedagogical/ Andrological issues in construction science in the United States.
