PDS Tech Commercial, Inc. Material Control Specialist I in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Position Purpose:
Under moderate supervision, the Material Control Specialist I is responsible for a variety of activities within the material control function to support manufacturing. This includes maintaining the accuracy of materials, coordinating inventory transactions, and ensuring proper data entry. The role also involves operating material handling equipment and working with other team members to maintain smooth operations and meet manufacturing schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Materials Management:
Interpret route cards and/or material request forms to ensure the accurate movement and tracking of materials throughout the production process.
Ensure the accurate handling and processing of material requests, including replacement materials such as scrap, Discrepant Material Tags (DMT), and other miscellaneous issues.
Move materials to the appropriate location using inventory transactions and appropriate material control systems. Material Tracking and Expediting:
Track parts requested to support manufacturing schedules, ensuring timely delivery of materials to avoid production delays.
Coordinate material flow between departments, ensuring that materials are available when needed for production. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and company vehicles as required to transport materials within the facility.
Maintain and ensure proper use of assigned equipment, adhering to safety standards and operational guidelines. Team Collaboration and Support:
Work collaboratively with other team members to dispatch materials and support manufacturing schedules.
Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve material shortages and ensure timely availability of required items. Data Entry and Documentation:
Accurately enter data into material control and inventory systems, ensuring all transactions are recorded and up to date.
Maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory levels, and requests to support tracking and reporting. Additional Responsibilities:
Safety and Housekeeping:
Comply with all company safety regulations, including the safe operation of material handling equipment and vehicles.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S and safety protocols. Continuous Improvement:
Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean principles, sustainability efforts, and ergonomic improvements.
Contribute to cross-functional teams focused on improving processes, reducing waste, and enhancing operational efficiency. Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department lead to ensure the smooth operation of material control processes.
Other Requirements: Skills and Experience:
Related expediting and/or material handling experience is preferred.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required for data entry and documentation.
Experience in materials coordination and inventory management is a plus. Technical Skills:
Ability to work with automated systems and material control software for tracking and managing materials.
Basic math and reading comprehension skills, demonstrated through assessments or experience. Physical Requirements:
Ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and other transport vehicles.
Capable of lifting and moving materials, as required, up to a specified weight limit (usually 50 lbs or as determined by company policy). Safety and Compliance:
Must adhere to all safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Must be able to comply with all environmental, safety, and regulatory guidelines while handling materials.
Work Schedule:
Must be flexible and available to work any shift, as required by operational needs.
Willingness to adapt to changing schedules based on production demands and priorities.
Certification:
Valid Driver’s License is required for operating company vehicles and equipment.
Pay Details: $18.37 per hour
