Job Summary: Reporting to the Department Manager, the Lead Material Control Tech assists with ensuring inventory levels of materials stocked within the department, assures availability of supplies needed to satisfy the requirements of internal customers.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Work Experience: 3 - 4 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated in depth working knowledge of NOVA inventory systems and transactions. Proficient PC skills as required for inventory transactions, data entry, selecting and executing reports and analyzing data. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Assists the Department Manager with various office related projects and serves as a technician lead. Enters manual time entries, approves time, assumes timekeeper responsibilities for all departmental staff. Assists the Department Manager in reviewing the usage history of inventory supplies used/consumed by customer departments, updates material requirement planning information in inventory system for all materials maintained in Supply& Distribution's inventory, coordinates department's annual physical inventory and, ensures the NOVA (carousel) database is updated and maintained to match. Performs random quality control functions which include, but are not limited to, inspecting supply carts replenished by department staff and, checking orders for completeness and accuracy. Acts as customer service representative to customer departments by answering and returning calls to assist with any supply, ordering, or replenishment cart related questions Serves as a resource to other technicians within the department and assists with staffing adjustments. Assists in orienting and leading staff in some of same work performed such as NOVA transactions/processes, and departmental procedures, ensuring consistency in the performance of all tasks, enabling the department to meet the needs of customers. Performs all distribution tasks normally performed by Material Control Techs, as required, to include performing cart inventories, operating carousels, entering orders, restocking supplies, restocking carts, and delivering orders. Maintains a neat, safe and orderly work area, ensuring that area is swept, trash removed, boxes are baled and bins used for supply storage are clean.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working Relationships: Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise). Has input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
