Suit-Kote Corporation Recycling Foreperson in Tully, New York
Job Title: Recycling Foreperson Overview: The Foreperson directs and manages all on-site construction workers, subcontractors and equipment, enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines. This position will be a salaried position with a 35 week work season.Safety Expectations: All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to observe safe work practices and operating procedures at all times. Whenever on Suit-Kote property or job sites, or operating Suit- Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.Responsibilities/Job Duties:•Set up projects•Engage in effective communication with the project team and report any issues which could affect project plans.•Allocate resources where appropriate to achieve project safety, schedule, cost, scope and quality objectives.•Identify and execute best practices concerning the efficient use of construction materials•Plan work in an efficient and effective order, maximizing progress in a safe and timely manner.•Oversee the performance of all sub-contractors •Monitor and manage employee attendance, ensuring the timely arrival and participation of all crew members•Delegate tasks and accountabilities, instruct, supervise, lead and direct crew members.•Liaise between the company and employees on a variety of matters.•Handle and thoroughly investigate all employee concerns, and exercise conflict and dispute resolutions.•Lead and direct people, equipment and resources in the construction of roads•Observe asphalt to determine potential quality control issues, and apply necessary corrections.•Ensure company equipment is lawfully operated, cared for, maintained and used effectively•Read and interpret project plans and specifications.•Complete, maintain and submit time keeping records and other necessary paperwork in a timely manner.•Conduct hazard assessments, tool box meetings, and employee training, to ensure a safe and effective work site.•Basic troubleshooting•Active participation in terminal Emergency Response Drills •Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conductedConsent to a DMV license evaluation•Must have or be willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety CertificateRequired Skills/Abilities:•Willingness to obtain company provided forklift training•Strong work ethic•Physical Organization and time management •Flexibility in hours - overtime and weekend hours may be necessary•Demonstrate a proficient understanding of how to operate a Paver, Screed, Roller, and other paving construction heavy equipment, including proper maintenance procedures.•Knowledge of paving construction methods, road construction materials, heavy equipment operation and industry requirements.Physical Requirements:•Must be able to lift 50 pounds•Observe and comply with necessary PPE requirements•Must be able to work in a noisy area with many odors present•Bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling and squattingOther Preferred Qualities:•Ability to read and understand SDS •Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) •High school diploma or GED - a two year technical degre•Basic math skillsAdditional Duties:This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed.
