Hiring Range: \$17.36 - \$20.40 Per Hour

Full Range: \$17.36 - \$23.44 Per Hour

The Pima County Department of Transportation is seeking a motivated individual who is passionate about learning new ideas and sharing their work experience with our Maintenance Operations Division in our maintenance support sector with a wide range of tasks from welding, concrete, fence repair, bridge repair, and also snow removal.

In this position, you will lead, participate, or operate independently in providing journey-level maintenance,repair, diagnosis, troubleshooting, construction, fabrication, and preventive maintenance. This role requires technical skills, experience, and knowledge in the area of specialization, as well as training, lead, orsupervisory skills and knowledge. Accountable for activities and ensures services or products complywith written procedures, engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, industry standards, and statutory codes and requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists Trades Maintenance classified employees and others in performance of their duties;

  • Performs operator-level inspections, servicing and maintenance of assigned tools, equipment and vehicles;

  • Performs non-skilled replacement, repair or adjustment of facility or system components;

  • Prepares and cleans areas or equipment undergoing repair, painting, maintenance, construction or other related activity;

  • Cuts, trims, seeds, fertilizes and, under supervision, applies herbicides/pesticides to turf grasses, soils, trees and ornamental shrubs;

  • Maintains security and accountability for all tools, equipment and materials required in performance of duties, particularly in a medical, detention or correctional setting;

  • Maintains and uses safety and personal protective equipment;

  • Performs housekeeping services to maintain safe, clean and orderly conditions in the workplace.

Minimum Qualifications:

Six months of experience performing helper-level duties in construction and/or welding.\

(Relevant training or education may be substituted for the aforementioned experience.)

  • Minimum one (1) year grading, setup pouring, and finishing concrete surfaces including but not limited to concrete floors sidewalks, curbs, and stairs.

  • Minimum two (2) years effectively scheduling work, cutting, joining, and sha ing metal and other materials, using a range of tools in roadway maintenance.

  • Minimum two (2) years of lead experience in public works coordinating teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
