Position Summary

This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The purpose of the position is to provide support to the Manufacturing Engineering Department. This position requires excellent attention to detail. This position requires exceptional communication and organizational skills. Applicants must be good problem solvers, focused on effectiveness, organized, flexible, self-directed, and must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to manage change and frequent interruptions are vital to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Support a staff of Manufacturing Engineers responsible for the manufacturing of specialty bearings.
  • Improve manufacturing productivity and reduce production costs.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of shop floor tooling.
  • Develops work order instructions to create tooling.
  • Participates in evaluating the state of shop floor tooling.
  • Create and revise process bulletins, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Work within ERP/MRP system to enter and retrieve data for analysis.
  • Assist in the design, development, modification, and implementation of equipment and processes to aid in the overall manufacturing process.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, and establishing and implementing manufacturing plans.
  • Ensure proper use of all safety regulations and equipment used in manufacturing.
  • Directly interface with production planning to ensure commitments, schedules, and obligations are met.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in technical field or high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to read and decipher engineering drawings and manufacturing procedures
  • High attention to detail
  • Willing and able to work overtime as needed
  • Able to multi-task
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to bend, squat, sit, stand, walk, and handle objects. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull, and reach above shoulder level. The employee must be able to carry/lift up to 40 pounds and be able to rotate item being handled
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma principles and methodology
  • Familiarity with inspection equipment and metrology
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Bearing manufacturing experience (plain, sleeve, spherical, rod ends)
  • Cold-forming (bearing swaging) manufacturing operations
  • Manufacturing footprint optimization and part/product family strategies
  • Working knowledge of 3D solid modeling
  • Tooling documentation/library and tool life management
  • Experience in mechanical/hydraulic systems/bearings
  • Experience in a DoD or military product manufacturing environment
