Caterpillar’s Integrated Components and Solutions Division is currently seeking an Autonomy Engineering Specialist.

As an Engineering Specialist, you will be part of a technology product development team and will be accountable for the development of system performance requirements and performance evaluation as well as providing project leadership. In this role, you will be focused on the development and performance of the Command for Hauling autonomous haulage solution.

The purpose of this role is to provide technical support to senior team members responsible for system performance and/or product development. This role will support various technology workstreams that are part of the Command for Hauling product portfolio including the inclusion of technology to support battery electric machines, new sensing technologies, new positioning technologies, and others. This role will develop use cases and requirements for system operation and performance across varying applications. That includes ensuring requirements are complete and clear and represent the needs of the end-user.

The role will then participate in guiding the design concepting, design reviews, reviewing and approving requirements trade-offs, ensuring appropriate design techniques and simulations are applied, overseeing product validation and qualification, and supporting continuous product improvement. In this role, the incumbent will may be required to provide detailed communications and participate in interactions with customers and regulatory bodies thus the incumbent must have good communication and organizational skills. You will have the opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the customer’s business and application needs.

  • Investigating Product Problems.

  • Leading Product Improvement projects.

  • Performing simulations and guiding others in the simulation of product performance and capability.

  • Developing use cases from exposure to customer processes and applications.

  • Developing requirements for new applications and tracking delivery on requirements.

  • Utilizing Data Analytics for product improvement and development.

  • Investigating new technologies.

  • Communicating globally with customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units.

  • Providing guidance and oversight for product analysis and validation.

  • Documenting Product Performance capability.

Communicating Complex Concepts : Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Uses comparisons to familiar ideas when introducing a technical or novel feature.

• Separates fundamental concepts from supporting details in explaining a product or service.

• Emphasizes the most important facts or features of a product or service.

Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Degree Requirement : Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or Analytics curriculum.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

NPI process/leadership experience.

Autonomy / Automation development experience.

Field or Proving Grounds Experience testing/using/implementing Command for Hauling.

Additional Information:

The primary location for this position is Tucson, A,Z or Mossville, IL.

Domestic relocation assistance is available.

This position may require 15% travel
