SUMMARY

The Maintenance & System Health organization is dedicated to ensuring the reliability and performance of PGE's Generation, Transmission, Substation and Distribution assets while meeting the needs of our customers and regulatory standards. We specialize in monitoring asset health, system performance, and maintenance activities across various critical areas, those functions include Regional Distribution Operations, Substation Maintenance, Transmission Maintenance, Plant Maintenance, Monitoring & Diagnostics (M&D), and Aircraft Operations.

Your Role:

As we adapt to Increasing extreme weather events, enable transportation electrification and pursue decarbonization It is critical now, more than ever, that PGE have the operational visibility of the near real time condition of our grid assets to better understand how to optimize and maintain the grid to ensure reliability.

This team is challenged to help solve the problem. You will be tasked to build upon a mature generation-focused asset M&D function to reduce operational risk for T&D assets. Additionally, your focus will be on expanding and enhancing core functions to drive capital and operational efficiencies for both existing and new generating resources. You'll be at the forefront of engaging with Grid Edge projects and the Innovation Framework, as well as closely coordinating with Asset Management teams to develop risk and dynamic health assessments for Transmission & Distribution, Generation, and Grid Edge initiatives. You'll be instrumental in efficiently integrating resources into PGE's O&M portfolio providing functional and economical engineering solutions to operations and maintenance problems through the improvement and maintenance of plant safety, reliability, efficiency and regulatory compliance in a responsible and progressive manner.

As the Manager of Maintenance, M&D Engineering, you will lead a team of centralized generation-focused maintenance engineers along with M&D engineers. This team owns the following programs: chemistry, vibration, lubrication, maintenance optimization, real-time condition/performance M&D, Aveva PI system operational support (mobile rounds, integrations, corporate governance, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring & Diagnostics Management : Manages the monitoring and diagnostics function, ensuring accomplishment of a successful monitoring, diagnostics, and performance analysis program for existing generation, substation, transmission, and distribution facilities and assets.

  • Maintenance Engineering Management Manages a team of maintenance engineering professionals in plant maintenance responsible for providing functional and economical engineering solutions to operations and maintenance problems through improvement and maintenance of plant safety, reliability, efficiency and regulatory compliance in a responsible and progressive manner; provides technical management for the team, ensuring that objectives are met and all relevant standards/procedures are followed; ensures that operational problems are identified and resolved; ensures that operational procedures and working practices are current and fit for the purpose.

  • Internal/External Collaboration – Partners effectively with other Operation and Engineering leaders to develop and refine Operations and Maintenance programs. Serves as a liaison between technicians, engineering, IT, and internal/external customers to ensure a high level of alignment and calibration.

  • Financial Management Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met, and examines any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan; assists with the definition and operation of effective financial controls and decision making.

  • Resourcing Oversees resourcing decisions and planning for team; partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes.

  • Professional Development Reviews organizational development needs and training strategies to determine required learning and development outcomes for the team; provides guidance in the creation of development plans; monitors ongoing progress and provides coaching and mentoring and provides feedback; completes annual performance management reviews.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering. ABET-accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency.

  • Experience Typically, eight or more years in engineering. Prefer 5 or more years of experience in one or more of the following, Distribution, Substation, Transmission, Generation

  • Certifications, Licenses and Training Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred; may be required based upon role.

  • Valid Driver's License required

Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of relevant equipment, computer systems, applications, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective maintenance, monitoring and diagnostics

  • Experience in operations and maintenance supervision within the energy sector.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Expertise with components of asset health monitoring, system performance optimization, and maintenance best practices.

  • Ability to drive efficiency and innovation in a fast-paced environment.

  • Expert knowledge of engineering and economic principles and concepts.

  • Advanced knowledge of other engineering disciplines and advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.

  • Expert understanding and application of engineering processes and procedures; intermediate knowledge of other related departments and functions.

  • Advanced industry knowledge and technology trends.

  • Expert knowledge of construction feasibility.

  • Intermediate knowledge of procurement and contract administration.

  • Intermediate knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates.

  • Advanced ability to review, evaluate and analyze technical information, policies and reports.

PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite.  However, these arrangements may change due to business needs or changes in responsibility.

Compensation Range:

$121,520.00 - $225,680.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
