AKS Engineering & Forestry GIS Technician / Analyst in Tualatin, Oregon

Job Summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry, LLC has an immediate opening for a GIS Technician / Analyst in our Tualatin, Keizer, or Vancouver offices. You will work alongside a team of experienced surveyors, engineers, natural resource specialists, and other professionals to provide GIS analysis, geospatial data processing, and map / exhibit generation. Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, planning, environmental science, computer science, engineering, surveying or related field is required, with a focus on GIS preferred.

  • A minimum of 1 to 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Proficiency with data management and organization and willingness to learn.

  • Experience using ESRI’s ArcGIS software suite, specifically ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting deadlines and prioritize workload.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong report writing and data analysis skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with other multidisciplinary team members, clients, and public agencies.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD / Civil 3D.

    Job Functions & Responsibilities: This full-time position will provide support for site development, public works, and natural resources projects by developing and maintaining public agency databases and other GIS-based work products. Responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing and managing data.

  • Preparing hard copy and electronic figures and field maps in ArcGIS.

  • Performing geospatial data management, analysis, and documentation.

  • Identifying published sources and downloading spatial data in support of projects.

  • Creating and publishing web maps and solutions to ArcGIS Online.

  • Deploying ESRI Fieldmaps and working with field crews to capture a variety of field data.

  • Performing geodatabase design, maintenance, and documentation.

  • Working with public agencies to create/update GIS databases.

  • Assisting with data gathering and compilation, GIS, GPS setup, mapping, and data analysis.

  • Developing clearly written and detailed scopes of work for proposals.

  • Coordinating with clients on project data and scheduling.

  • Effectively and efficiently coordinating with in-house engineering and surveying co-workers.

  • Developing and maintaining effective positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, agency staff, and other project team members.

  • Taking personal responsibility for completing quality work and meeting project budgets and timelines.
